Australia is a country with a strong national character; I'm sure how it handles (and is handling) this tragedy will set a good example for the rest of the world. People are sickened, saddened and very, very angry - of course some people are already bringing up the death penalty but I pray they aren't taken seriously because that would change Australia fundamentally but then things like this can't help but make an impact on the society's psyche. I think the people that really will effect Australian's faith in each other, though, are those who relit fires as they were becoming under control - of course lighting it in the first place is a terrible thing but perhaps they didn't think it would have such an effect and become so out of control. To re-light after seeing the destruction and loss of life underway - that is somehow worse to me. You are not alone there Jordan.
