Hi Debi and Laura,
I don't know what your errors are but they are probably related to the version linked to here being an older version, since this post was written so long ago - Installation itself hasn't changed but Kindle has upgraded since I wrote this post. I will update this post with a little note suggesting what I am about to suggest to you, which is that when you get to the freewarelovers page linked to here, before installing, do another search for Kindle and look for a more recent one, then continue with the instructions.
Good luck!

I have followed your instructions to a T several times but keep getting a parse error when attempting to install the Kindle App on my Cruz Reader. I'm about ready to return this thing! Nothing will install!

Hi,
Glad the post helped. To your question: If you are asking how long it takes to get to Central World from the Sukhumvit MRT Station, then the answer is about 10 minutes, including waiting for the Skytrain and taking the short stroll along the Sky Walk from Chit Lom BTS Station, towards Siam BTS. Chit Lom is only a few of stations from Asok BTS (Skytrain) Station which is directly above Sukhumvit MRT Station and only a couple of stations outside the "Sukhmvit" area.
However, the MRT is the Subway and you were asking about BTS, so I have a feeling you are actually just asking how long from "Sukhumvit" the area, not the station, and that's a more difficult question . Sukhumvit is a large area centred along Sukhumvit Road, which is quite long, so its kind of like asking how long it takes to get to Melbourne Uni Campus from "Melbourne" by tram. "Sukhumvit" the area is basically the area from Sukhumvit Soi 1 to Sukh. Soi 59 (Ekkamai BTS.) The smaller the number of your Soi, the closer you will be to Central World but, even if you are all the way at Soi 59, the BTS journey itself really isn't the biggest consideration - it won't be more than 10-15 minutes (assuming you get on the first train that comes by, but even if you don't they are only a few minutes apart.) Your biggest consideration should be how you will <em>get</em> to the BTS in the first place - because that will be where your time (and comfort walking in the heat) could really be eaten into! Getting as close to a BTS station as possible, is probably the best thing to do.

I hope that helps,
Best of luck,
Danielle.

Hi

Thank you for the insight. I'm moving to BKK for work from Melbourne. In the process of finding a "condo" etc. How long does it take from sukhumvit to Central world by Skytrain.

I am told my office is close to Central World

Hi Anne,
Hope you don't mind my editing your comment but a) I have a strict no advertising policy on my blogs - mostly so I can do my reviews without bias and b) I wanted to let readers know about your blog and encourage them to actually go there and with the product names in there it would have been off-putting - they'll find the product when they get to your blog :)
Having a translator gadget or app with a voice you can play is really useful, here, because even if you have something written down in Thai, not all taxi drivers or Thais in general are literate. I've been thinking of doing a review of my little gadget, too - it's been very helpful, though it always gets a giggle of surprise!

Hi Danielle,
Well, we just moved to Thailand 2 weeks ago so finding your blog was very opportune! It was only today that I blogged about [<em>edited by Dani to avoid product promo and to sound less like spam, because Anne's blog is actually worth a look</em> :) ], that we find very helpful in translating (and it even has a voice option so you can play a lovely Thai lady saying the words you want to say instead of butchering it yourself)! I look forward to reading more about your adventures (and learning from you too).

You're most welcome! The purpose of these posts is to help at least one person, so thank you for letting me know this one achieved that :) I think I may have responded to a post of yours on Chickynet, too? I hope you find a great spot - if you're not going to Nichada, then all the advice I have heard is to get right into Bangkok and be nice and central, close to a BTS in Sukhumvit or Sathon where it will be easy to take advantage of all the expat groups (there's something for everyone) and the shopping and entertainment districts - being an expat in Sukhumvit is a bit of a cliche but until you've learned the language (if you choose to) it's the area where people are more likely to speak a little English. Feel free to email me if you have any specific questions :) Good luck!
Oh, I've noticed that the customer service/concierge at some of the "department stores" (which are what they call malls, here) have prams you can borrow, so you can take little bubbies in a papoose or sling and not worry about a pram on the street or the BTS :)

Hi Robert,
As the Amazon App store is only available in the States, atm, I can't speak to that but to the other I'd first ask if you have updated to the latest ROM from the cruz site? Their instructions are pretty good, just beware that when they say "be sure not to change the file name" when you download it, they actually mean be careful because if you use Chrome the file name will change of its own accord, so you have to saved it with the correct name (they may have fixed this by now, it was clearly a problem on their side because Chrome does not change file names - at least I've never seen it before or since and I've been using Chrome since beta)
If you have updated, then I'm not sure. There is a newer version than the freeware lovers version on my page, I'll try to find out and update it soon our computers arrive from Sydney today so maybe in the next couple of days.

I tried to install the Kindle app from both the Kindle App Store and FreewareLovers.com, but no luck getting it to install on the Cruz Tablet. I get a parsing error, and I have authorized the device to use apps that don't come from the Cruz Market. Any ideas?
